5. Appropriate information about the area

A wide range of possibilities to access tourist information is available, through which La Gomera can be promoted. Existing information points and websites belonging to tourist offices meet these goals satisfactorily. The very existence of the National Park, and its a World Heritage Site status, are part of the attraction to the island. It is situated in what is already a tourist destination; the Canary Islands. This means there is plenty of advertising by tour operators, both in Spain and internationally.

However, this advertising is not coordinated between different agencies.  Although, for example, trekking is the most popular activity on the island, the Canaries as a whole are not promoted as a rural, or active tourism, site. No coordinated information about existing facilities is available, and many resources are out of tourists' reach as they are unable to access information about them.

Action will be directed at establishing the necessary means for providing access to adequate information once on the island, and before arrival. Work will be done on the coordination and adaptation of the content of websites aimed at tourism, in order to create a series of related pages offering, in their totality, detailed and complete information about the island. Action will also take place to provide tourist information points to complement information available, wherever needed.
